2020 Tabletop Writers Diversity Initiative: Challenge Seven

Welcome back to the Tabletop Writers Diversity Initiative! It’s Week 7! I’m Rafael Cordero, one of the Guild Directors. I’m also the Editor-in-Chief of Board Game content over at Goonhammer, and have been writing here and there around the industry for a few years now.

One of the things that writing in this hobby has done is introduce me to so many amazing people and communities. Late nights at Gen Con, early mornings at Geekway, and an ever-growing list of Slack or Discord channels have all become treasured parts of my life. I care as much about the people of this hobby as I do about the games, and I don’t think I’m alone!

Challenge Seven:

Your Gaming Community

This week’s challenge is all about your Gaming Community. Community refers to the people and friends we game, chat, or hang out with. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the people you game with; if your most treasured community is a Slack channel or Twitter hashtag then we want to hear about it!

That’s it. Tell us about some aspect of your slice of the hobby. This challenge is meant for you to get a little personal and share your part of the tabletop Community with the world!

Additional Challenge Info
  • We definitely want to hear about the games and events that mean something to your community, but the focus should be on the community and the people that make it up!
  • Aim for 700-1200 words for this Challenge.
  • Once completed, post your comments or your article to your site on or before Monday, October 26th at 9AM EDT. We’ll start sharing them out ourselves the next day, but if you want to circulate it yourself too with the #TWDI2020 tag, by all means.
  • Also, when finished, be sure to claim your Week 7 Merit Badge below!

That’s it for now. Happy writing!
